Manifesto point #10 ‘We teach in schools of architecture and this is core to our development; ‘we teach best what we want to learn.’
The second year architectural students from the University of Portsmouth are currently exhibiting their design ideas for the future of West Beach, Hayling Island.
The project brief asked to design a water sports centre, or beach hut for the future. The concept design brief looks to improve public facilities in this area and promote accessibility to the natural landscape.
Ricky Evans, who lectures part time at the University of Portsmouth, comments ‘The ‘100 Visions’ demonstrates a vibrancy of responses, challenging the possibilities of the brief, place and the future of this retreating landscape’
The exhibition runs until Friday 29th March in the main reception plaza at Havant Borough Council Office, Civic Centre Road, open 9-5pm.
