Location: Enfield, London Designations: Commercial Developer Value: Undisclosed Sector: Residential Housing Development Images: nu.ma Collaborators: Graham Fisher Planning Consultant This challenging site in Enfield, London EN1, lies behind flats just off the main road and is currently occupied by garages. The property developer required a housing scheme that maximise the site’s potential both economically and aesthetically by providing a series of new homes on this otherwise residual piece of land. The project was granted Planning Permission in spring 2017. A range of options were explored, providing up to four homes to meet standards outlined in the London Housing Design Guide. It was important each housing unit had access to a private external space and not overlooked. Each unit has a south facing external courtyard accessible from the ground floor living accommodation. PAD studio work to create contextual buildings which maximise access to natural light and views. We see that housing schemes such as this provide a perfect opportunity to provide these qualities in smaller, affordable projects; with often restrictive sites and challenging budgets.
