Location Enfield, London Client Undisclosed Value Undisclosed Status In planning Sector Residential Images NuMa The site for the EN2 Enfield house is currently scrubland, adjacent to garages and highly constrained with neighbours in close proximity. Due to the restrictions of the site the house has been designed with a kinked building plan, with a part single and part two storey form. An intensive green roof is provided over the single-story element to improve visual amenity for residents and a monopitch roof to the two-storey part of the building presents a lower eaves height to neighbouring developments whilst allowing more sunlight to permeate into the garden. The overlooking issues have been mitigated through careful positioning of openings and a feature weathering steel angled window to the front elevation – referencing Enfield’s industrial past. The new dwelling has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a study are included on the first floor whilst the ground floor is largely open plan with access to a private south facing courtyard garden. The home has been designed to meet the space standards outlined in the London Housing Design Guide;. This project is one of a series of residential developments PAD studio are working on with an Enfield based housing provider to deliver a series of high quality, considered infill developments on residual backland sites in the borough.
